THE POWER AND THE AUTHORITY OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST
![]() |
Many of us have had the idea that we come to God and worship him because we have done good which is worthy of God's praises. We on the other hand feel totally unworthy and we cannot come and worship if we have done things displeasing to God.
These are thoughts given to us by the enemy to keep us from God. We need to understand that our conduct whether good or bad has no direct relationship to our approaching God.
We enter the presence of God only through the blood of Jesus Christ that cleasnse our sins, and only then are we worthy and able to enter into the presence of a Holy and Rightious God.
Hebrews 10:19
19. Having, therefore brethren, boldness to enter into the hoies by the blood of Jesus.
We are told in this verse that our coming to God is based on nothing more and nothing less than the Blood of Jesus that was sacrificed on the cross. There is no good works that qualifies us to approach God, nor is there any type of spiritual experience, enthusiasm, or Zeal, that qualifies us. The blood of the Lord Jesus alone enables us to draw near to him.
Without the Blood, there can not be any worship or praising of God, for we are only able to reach God through blood. Only with blood of Jesus, are the doors of the presence of God opened.
The blood of the Lord Jesus is powerful and effective not only on earth but also in the heavens as well. So we could say that the blood Of Jesus shed on a cross on this earth reaches into heaven and is even effective in the throne of God. The blood allows us to enter into the Most Holy place to worship God.
Those who have better Bible knowledge, a deeper spiritual experience, and a greater number of good works are no more qulaified or able than any other believer washed by the blood, to worship God. Everyone of us who come before God need the precious blood to draw near to him.
Nothing other than the blood of Christ is acceptable. God will not accept any worship of any assembly no matter how it may look or sound that substitutes the blood with good works or experiences of the past as conditions of worship. It can also be said that anyone who depends on their works, expeience, or condition for worship, does not really understand true worship.
Through the blood of Christ we now worhip differently than did the children of Israel, and those of the old Testament. Today all of us must enter into the Holiest of all; into God's very presence by the way of the blood. This is something that those in the Old Testament were not allowed to do.
The Old Testament Covennant did not allow the congreagion to do anything by themselves. They could only do so from a distance and could not do anything directly by themselves. They could not worship directly to God. Even the slaying of the animals used in worship was not allowed to be done by the people. The slaying of cattle and sheep had to be done by the Priests.
The people were separated from God. They could not draw near to him. But now under the New Testament or covenant of the blood sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, each and every believer may come right into the presence of God in the most Holy Place of all, God's throne room.
Today we all who believe are like the High Priest. Because we may all enter directly, right into the the very Holiest place of all. The Lord Jesus is the Great High Priest. He is our High Priest before God the Father and by him and being in him we are all Priests also.
But we are in this position at the time of worship and we cannot enter into this in any way other than through the shed blood of Christ. The blood alone enables us to draw near to God.
The blood on the altar mentioned both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament was and still is for the remision or forgiveness of sin. However the blood shed on the cross also enables all me to draw near to God. We worship by the power of the blood also, just as we receive forgiveneess through the power of the blood.
In the Bible the book of Romans speaks of the blood, and so does the book of Hebrews, but each of them speaks of the blood differently.
Romans mentions the blood upon the mercy seat which deals with the one aspect of our sin being atoned for.
Hebrews speaks of the blood before the veil which deals with the other aspect. That of drawing near to worship God.
For the blood not only forgives us of sin, it also leads us to approach God and worship him. Our worship is not determined by our words, but our trusting in the blood.
By the blood we are able to aproach God with boldness. We are not to crawl forward to worship the Lord with fear and trembling. In Jesus, the Bible says we do so with boldness. We have the authority of being his children. This is promised to us by the Lord. we come with authority as we are commanded to do so.
If we truly know the value of Jesus's blood, we certainly come with boldness. Knowing the value of the blood is the one condition for worship.
